Mickey Sweatshirt – What Goes Around, Comes Around

Lori Krause • September 14, 2018

My husband will be the first to admit he’s a geek. He loves technology and even works in the tech industry. He’s been known to say, ‘That technology “thing” may just take off!’

We’ve always had a computer in the house and usually more than one. We had a camera that instead of film used 3-inch floppy discs. Remember floppy discs? And about 5-6 years ago he was so excited to get his own 3-D printer! So, we’ve had our share of techy gadgets over the years.

Now we have a color printer, but they were harder to find 30+ years ago. In 1984, my husband, then a college student, had access to a color printer and printed out a picture of Mickey Mouse from the movie Fantasia. A couple of years later he had it screen printed on a sweatshirt which he wore on his way to a fishing tournament. I’m not sure if it says anything about my hoarding tendencies, but because of the story behind the picture I held on to the sweatshirt and tucked it away in a cedar closet.

Fast forward 25 years, our daughter is looking for something and comes across the sweatshirt. She immediately fell in love with it, but it has even more meaning now that she knows the history behind it. So, off to college it went and she still has it to this day.

Preserving memories.
